JBL Charge 3 Vs Flip 5 Comparison (2023)
In this post, I’m going to be comparing the brand-new JBL Charge 3 vs JBL Flip 5 which has been out for a while now but it’s still one of the best Bluetooth speakers the JBL, flip 5 received some nice improvements over the JBL flip 4 liked better battery life deeper bass and is now fully waterproof like the JBL charge 3.
Design:
The designs of both JBL speaker uses pretty much all the same materials. Both Bluetooth speakers are made with hard rubber and durable fabric. You can see how much smaller and more portable the flip 5 is neither is very heavy they both feel really dense and well-made but the JBL charge 3 weighs about 798 g whereas the JBL flip 5 weight has 726 g. It is a little different in terms of weight.
Both have two front-facing drivers with a passive radiator. JBL change 3 the look of the radiators on the flip 5. So they now have a gloss plastic face with the JBL logo and an exclamation point on the other overall they have a very similar design but the charge 3 has a nice wide flat base. Which keeps the speaker very stable the flip 4 has this ridge.

Now the JBL flip 5 is fully waterproof it has an IPX 7 of iterating just like the JBL charge 3. So you can fully submerge them into water or wash them off when they get dirty build quality is equally great on both. the JBL charge 3 bulkier sizes give it a larger sound which I’ll get to in a minute but the smaller and lighter JBL flip 5 make it a better choice.

Battery life:
If you’re going to throw this in your bag battery life is good on both but the JBL charge 3 packs a much larger battery there’s a 6000 million battery compared to a 4000 milliamp hour battery inside the JBL flip 5. You’ll get around 20 hours of battery life with the JBL charge 3 compared to 12 hours with the JBL flip 5. The JBL Charge 3 also has a built-in power bank to help you can charge your smartphones and tablets via its USB output.

Sound quality:
The sound quality of JBL charge 3 benefits from larger drivers and a bit more power than the JBL flip 5. The charge 3 has 250 millimeter drivers powered at 10 watts each while the flip 5 has 240 millimeter drivers powered at 8 watts each. The JBL flip 5 is a very balanced sound with a nice amount of bass at normal listening levels with better mids and crisper highs.
The JBL Flip 5 can actually play about one decibel louder than the JBL charge 3 but the mids get a little harsh and the bass rolls off sooner so at full blast the speaker sounds thin compared to the JBL charge 3. On the other hand, emphasizes bass more the bass goes deeper and the kick drums hit a little harder the JBL charge 3 sounds like a much larger speaker but the mid sound is a little muddier than the JBL flip 5. The highs aren’t as detailed at 50 to 75 percent volume I think the JBL flip 5 sounds better with a more balanced sound but louder than that the charge 3 sounds better.

The JBL flip 5 goes for under 9,000 rupees and the JBL charge 3 under 11,000 rupees but it’s been on sale for 500 or less. I’ll put links below if you want to check the current price or pick one up. So let’s see how these compare and you can see if it’s worth it to spend a little more on the charge 3 or not in terms of accessories.
You get with the speakers both come with the USB cable to charge the only difference here is that the JBL charge 3 includes a wall adapter. So you’ll need your own wall adapter to charge the foot before or use something that has a USB port.
SO Conclusion:
JBL Charge 3 | JBL Flip 5 |
The JBL charge 3 has better battery life a power bank nice strong deep bass and sounds better. | Overall at loud levels, the JBL Flip 5 is much more portable and sounds really really good. |
