JBL Charge 4 Vs Flip 5 Comparison (2023)

In this post, we will be a comparison between the JBL Charge 4 vs Flip 5 bluetooth speakers and both of these speakers have their own merits and demerits but regardless of how the consumers react. let’s take a quick comparison tour between these two portable speakers and help you make a decision.

Overview:
We focus on the physical section of both Bluetooth speakers and we have in the first place the JBL Flip 5 with dimensions of 18.1×6.9×7.4 centimeters and weight 540 grams. The construction is in good quality plastic with a coating of fabric and a very premium design.

On the other side, we have the  JBL Charge 4, which is larger and we have a dimension of 22 x 9.5 x 9.3 centimeters and the weight is also almost double because we have 960 grams. The construction is the same, in plastic with cloth coating, a very good quality construction common in the JBL.

Physical Overviews:
Both of these bluetooth speakers are great from their own position but let’s start with the build quality the JBL charge 4 is bulkier compared to the JBL flip 5. even though both of these speakers are splash proof, dust proof and water resistant.

The JBL charge 4 is much thicker than the flip 5. So it’s understandable that the flip 5 is more travel friendly while the charge 4 might be a good option for an indoor party however both of them have a 1 meter waterproof depth rating and the charge 4 offers a detachable cable for hassle free usage.

Connectivity:
We have in the JBL Flip 5 bluetooth 4., 5.0 was expected here but no, we have 4.2 as I said in the review and we do not have the option to connect it by cable through auxiliary because it has no connection. It doesn’t have NFC so we can’t do it by contact and we don’t have hands-free either so we can’t make calls or interact with voice assistants.

JBL Charge 4 Vs Flip 5 ComparisonIn the Charge 4, it is similar although it is a little better we have bluetooth 4.2, we do not have bluetooth 5.0 here. We do not have NFC but we already have 3.5 so we can connect it by the cable which is appreciated. And we don’t have hands-free either so we can’t answer calls or interact with the different voice assistants.

Battery :
We have the JBL Flip 5 with 4800mah that gives us up to 12 hours and in practice, at a medium-high volume, it stays around 7 hours. Charging times are shorter on the Flip 5, we have 2-3 hours. In JBL Charge 4 we have more amperage, we have 7800mah that gives us about up to  20 hours and in practice it stays around 10-11 hours and the charging times in Charge 4 are 4-5 hours.

The battery is better in the Charge 4 although it must be taken into account that it is also much larger and therefore it is normal, we have a higher weight, greater size and, therefore, the battery is larger.

Sound Quality:
The flip 5 with 20 watts and an active 4.4x8cm transducer, we are facing a mono speaker and It has two passive radiators that do their job very well. The Flip 5 sounds great, balanced, powerful, and quality.

On the other hand, the Charge 4 has a larger speaker and is also more powerful, we have 30 watts of power and a 5x9cm active transducer and we are also facing a mono speaker. It has two passive radiators that do their job very well and has a powerful sound, good and balanced bass.

Obviously, in terms of power, the Charge 4 is better, since it has 10 watts more and we are facing a larger speaker and therefore the sound is more powerful. However, the quality is very similar on both devices and if you do not care much about power,  the JBL Flip 5 can also be a good option.

SO Conclusion:

let’s discuss the pricing the jbl charge 4 will cost you under 14,000 Rs while the flip 5 is going to cost you under 10,000 Rs but is that justified where you can’t just get a smart speaker like amazon echo or google nest audio within 10,000 Rs well maybe yes because these portable speakers are specifically built for music and taking them outdoors.

Whereas those smart speakers are purposefully used for other significant features especially smart features in fact they will not even be able to compete against the JBL charge 4 as well as the JBL flip 5 in terms of music consumption but anyways. If you prefer more mobility then get a flip 5 for yourself but if you want more power then JBL charge 4 is absolutely the best pick for you. So we end the comparison between JBL Charge 4 vs Flip 5.
